Jill Elaine died suddenly at home from an extended illness on October 26, 2026. She
was born in Charleston, West Virginia on April 26, 1960 and grew up in Charlotte, North
Carolina. She lived much of her life in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and resided the
last few years near Looneyville, West Virginia.
She is survived by her father, John Emil Coulter, her mother, Susie Durham Koyelaitis,
son, Michael Gregory Coulter, grandson, Ethan, granddaughters, Michala, and Isabella,
brothers, Kevin Coulter, and Jamie Coulter, sister, Alice Withers, and several aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews, and dozens of cousins.
Jill was a talented artist and an avid gardener with a large green thumb. She was a
strong Democrat and followed the Buddhist religion. Jill loved family history which she
surely inherited from her adored grandmother, Janie Stephenson Coulter, who
showered her with love. She was devoted to her Australian Blue Heeler companions,
Bear and Cecil.
A graveside memorial will be held on a later date at the Reed Stephenson Pierson
Cemetery at Clay, WV. The Wilson Smith Funeral Home in Clay is in charge of the
arrangements.
The family extends their sincere thanks to cousins, Nita Mayes, and Andy Mitchell, for
their gracious help and kindness to Jill during her last difficult years.
