On Friday, July 24, 2026, Peggy Ann McCoy Hill passed away peacefully with family at
her home in Bostwick, FL. She was 89 years old. Peggy was born in Duck, WV on May
4, 1937, the middle child of five, to Hazel Fern Fulks McCoy and Ernest Ovid McCoy.
She was a graduate of Clay County High School, WV. Peggy always talked about the
loving childhood she had up on the hill in Duck with her brothers Allen and Larry &
sisters Juanita and Kay. She especially loved Summer & holiday visits with her maternal
Grandmother Lula Mollohan Fulks Nottingham, Aunts, Uncles & lots of cousins.
In June of 1959, at the Villa Nova Baptist church in Duck, WV, she married her
sweetheart, Walter R. Hill of Bomont, WV, also a Clay High graduate. They had three
children, Brian, Jan, and Lois. After Walter’s retirement from the Navy, the family moved
back to WV and settled in Bomont where they lived for many years before moving to
Bostwick, FL.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, sister Juanita McCoy
James (Willard ‘Red’) of Ohio, brother Allen ‘Oley’ McCoy (Wanda ‘Faye’) of Gassaway,
WV, beloved granddaughter Jordan Hill Weber of Florida. She is dearly loved & truly
missed by her grateful children, son Brian Hill (Wanda), daughters Jan Hill & Lois Hill
Warner (Michael); grandsons Terry Hill, Phillip Hill (Deanna), Patrick Hill, Jacob Warner;
granddaughter Abbey Warner; Sister Sandra ‘Kay’ Greenlief-Browning (Everett), of
Duck, WV and brother Larry McCoy (Sally) of Florida; many great-grandchildren,
nephews and nieces, great & great-great nieces and nephews. Her family meant
everything to her.
Memories of Peggy are filled with so many fun times. Family gatherings, vacations,
holidays, and everyday times of life were happier because of her. She loved to sing,
dance, play cards and games, and visit with family. She couldn’t tell a joke to save her
life, but she loved hearing yours. She was always someone who others wanted to be
around. Peggy loved without condition. And she loved with her whole heart. Her love
was never forced, it was just always there, no matter what.
A memorial service is planned for November in WV. Peggy’s earthly ashes will rest with
her beloved mother at Jack Point Cemetery, Servia, WV.
