More than 80 young people from across Clay County took part in this year’s Clay County 4-H Camp, held June 14-18, 2026.

A total of 84 campers and 30 counselors attended the week-long event, which featured a variety of educational programs, recreational activities, and camp traditions.

Clay County 4-H officials expressed their appreciation to Clay County Schools for allowing the use of Clay County High School and the community pool through the Excess School Levy, which helped make it possible to bring camp activities back to the county.

Throughout the week, campers enjoyed special programs, including an assembly presented by the Three Rivers Avian Center. Participants also took part in one of the camp’s most popular traditions, the Counselor Hunt.

The week concluded with a talent show where campers showcased their abilities through jokes, songs, and performances, and the camp’s tribes competed in a dance-off. The Seneca Tribe was awarded the Spirit Stick.

Several campers were recognized for their leadership, character, and positive contributions during the week. This year’s award recipients were:

  • Head H Award: Parker Taylor
  • Heart H Award: Lydia Shamblin
  • Hands H Award: Taylor Adkins
  • Health H Award: Elijah “Pawpaw” Paxton
  • Spirit of Camp Award: Alexus “Lexi” Diaz

Organizers said the camp provided an opportunity for youth to build friendships, develop leadership skills, and create lasting memories while participating in the 4-H camp tradition.
