Agnes Shelton Davis, age 102, of Clay, West Virginia, passed away on April 23, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia. She was born on January 25, 1924, in Lockwood, West Virginia, to her parents, John Calvin Shelton and Georgia Keenan Shelton. Agnes was married to Garrett Walter Davis, who preceded her in death, as did her son, John Garrett Davis and her son-in-law John Stone.

Agnes is survived by her two daughters: Sharon Stone of Carrolton, Ohio, and Deborah Frederick and her husband Paul of South Charleston, West Virginia. She is also survived by her two sons: Henry Allen Davis of Clay, West Virginia, and David Thomas Davis and his wife Cindy of Sarasota Florida. She is also survived by five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her three sisters: Katie Shelton Neal, Vina Shelton Shauver, and Betty Shelton McHenry; and by her two brothers: William Allen Shelton and John Winston Shelton.

Agnes was a member of the Clay Methodist Church and was employed by the Clay County Board of Education as the secretary at Clay County High School for 23 years. She was also a member of the Francis Chapter of Eastern Star in Clay, West Virginia. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 29, at Wilson Smith Funeral Home at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311.

She will be remembered for her kindness, strengths and unwavering love for her family.
