The Clay Town Council addressed a range of community matters during its April meeting, including housing policy, local library support, and preparations for upcoming summer celebrations.
Council members voted to adopt a Fair Housing Proclamation, following the approval of a related plan during last month’s meeting. While discussion on the proclamation itself was limited, the measure formalizes the town’s participation in fair housing initiatives.
Representatives from the Clay Public Library attended the meeting to request continued financial support in the upcoming year. The President of the Library Board of Trustees asked the council to maintain its annual $1,500 budget allocation, emphasizing the library’s ongoing service to the community. Council members opted to table the discussion of library funding.
In preparation for summer festivities, the council approved the contract for the town’s Independence Day fireworks display. Funding was also authorized for inflatable attractions, which will once again accompany the celebration.
The Town Council also accepted an offer by The Blume Flower, a new flower shop on Main Street that took over following the sale of Hometown Floral, to plant flowers and other plants in the streetside planter boxes seen along Main Street.
This effort comes just months before the Independence Day Celebration and the Golden Delicious Apple Festival, two major celebrations in the Town of Clay that draw locals and those from afar, supporting local businesses and bringing life to the Town of Clay.
Looking ahead, the council announced a brief special meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 21st, to address the laying of the levy. The next regular monthly meeting will take place on May 12th.
