Urgent Care E.M.S.’s Jeffery Benincosa spoke about what they intend to do with this facility. He states they would aim to provide meals to families within the community. Clay County students and their families would be the priority before helping surrounding communities. They intend to maintain the playground and ball field for community use, as well as “clean up” the auditorium so that it may be rented (at a small fee to offset utilities) to community members for events like birthdays.

Mr. Benincosa shared that this food bank would operate differently from others, allowing families to come in weekly (not monthly) to pick up the food they need. They also will not have pre-made boxes they hand out; rather, they will allow you to pick out which foods you would like to take. He also mentioned they intend to hold community events where they will have clothing available for families to pick out.

The board is expected to make minor repairs to the school before this transition, which would include replacing some doors and windows. An estimated cost of approximately $1,400.00. Urgent Care E.M.S. would then be responsible for the school’s upkeep and utility costs.

This memorandum of understanding was voted on and approved, with all in favor.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for July 21, 2026.
